Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are used to create a more youthful appearance by plumping out facial lines, wrinkles and folds.

Several natural and man-made materials are used which have been specifically developed for use in the skin. They are supplied in a pre-filled sterile syringe for injection. They come in different thicknesses: thicker, more gel-like fillers are used for deeper folds or wrinkles such as those between the nose and corners of the mouth, with thinner, more liquid ones used for fine lines such as crow’s feet.

The length of time dermal fillers last depends on the filler used and the area injected. On average, the effects of a hyaluronic acid filler last around 6-12 months. Thicker fillers tend to last longer than those used for finer lines. As the dermal filler is gradually broken down and the volume gained lessens, you can choose to have the area ‘topped up’ to retain the effect.
